I don't think the execution of the prequels was bad at all. I was 18 when they first started coming out, loved all of them back then, and still love them now. In my opinion, it seems most accuse Lucas of having poor execution because they idolize the OT. Don't get me wrong, I love those films too...but they're not untouchable masterpieces. Lucas said many times over the years that in the '70s and '80s he had to sacrifice so much, primarily due to the technology available to him at the time. But 15 years later that all changed, and so he was finally able to make Star Wars as he originally wanted it to be.
Besides running out of source material, those final seasons were far too short on time to make anything happen naturally. Even if they had a better story and great script, it still would have kinda sucked. In part, those last seasons needed to be full seasons, plus at least one more full season to do it right. The other part, imo, is that they wasted way too much time in seasons 4-6, where the pace was crawling even though the episodes were still enjoyable then.
I rewatch GoTs roughly once a year but only watch it till Pods Song lol
After watching House of the Dragon, I was almost tempted to rewatch Game Of Thrones, but I quickly remembered how disappointing the final two seasons are
Not having the books finished was the biggest issue. You see the stark difference between the first seasons which had the source material to reference vs the latter seasons which did not
I think Cersi lost her children, and instead of mourning and healing so that she might have a healthy mindset going forward, she loses her shit. She approaches life in the last few seasons with much less concern for how her actions might look to her people. The death of your child can change a person. She snaps and becomes the simple tyrant.
It was George's fault. It's been like over 13 years since the last book. Expecting the show producers to write a better ending in 6 months in ridiculous.
It helps when the main character isn't trying to get with every member of the friend group.
6 the rizz lords fan girl joined near the end
Another Goldman classic!
Thanks!
Yeah you just ruined GOT finale for me even more by writing that awesome ending for Jaime
Hard disagree on the fortune teller. It’s fucking hilarious
One of the biggest crimes of the later seasons was the writers making Arya into an insufferably annoying character, where at first she had been interesting.
Season 7-8 really made me HATE the show that I once loved. GoT WAS the greatest show ever created, until they ruined it.. The greatness of the show was how deep it was and how it invested a lot of time in to relationships and just slaughtered somebody that you cared for, IT WAS EPIC! The last scene with Oberyn was so freaking good, he was the best character in the show at the time AND they just ended him the most gruesome way, AWESOME! The shock-factor of GoT when they still had the books to use as source material was magical entertainment, but then they had to make up their own stuff and their ideas SUCKED!
Critisizing Jon for being “too good” or “too one-dimensional” imo shows misunderstanding of what GoT is about. Yes there are many morally grey characters, but the show isn’t trying to prove that good characters don’t exist. The dilemmas occur when you realize that being well-intentioned doesn’t always guarantee good outcomes, far from it. It makes you question if having the forsight about what might happen would change their perspective. You will find similar themes at the core of for example the Dune stories. An empire with honorable leader with a just cause being torn by holy war, causing suffering, starvation and much more misery than there ever was when the more questionable characters ruled. Being honorable in itself isn’t faulty or lazy writing. It’s what happens with those type of characters that counts.
Lets hope the upcoming earth avatar and his lack of any useful past lives can recover.
Arya was OP. She was a walking plot hole. She could have ended Cersei but was selfish and wanted to party with her siblings.
Wait. 5 years ago already!????? Wtf.
Want to observe great acting; watch Kino Loy's eyes and Dedra Meero's jawline.
The show was ruined so bad that I do not care about any spinoffs or anything to do with this franchise. Biggest waste of time.
Did this guy even watch the show
I did! What did I miss?
we will see bow good the show is after a few seasons. thats how i felt about game of thrones. first 3 seasons were good and then everything wemt down
Instead of all three options for Dany, I'd have the bells be rung, Dany and Rhaegal stop, then the Scorpion snipes Rhaegal and barely misses Drogon and that's when she just snaps. It would have been one last desperate move by Cersei who's never had a problem playing dirty. Presumably fans might have been too much on Dany's side that they would have been annoyed if she then died in the next episode.
I don't agree with Jon Snow story. Bu thanks anyway
I coulda sworn that Anikan mentioned a few times that he wanted to be a master, ik for sure he says it to Padma one time
If I could ask Martin one favor, it would be for him to be Ned Stark for a moment. I would ask, "Lord Stark, why do you think it was so dishonorable for King's Guard Jamie to kill the king he'd sworn to protect when you and Robert were on your way to kill the king to whom you both had sworn fealty?" This was from the first episode, so we can't pin it on Dumber and Dumbest.
I was expecting to see Korra’s and it just be a triangle😂
Hey that's not the weakest relationship there. Maybe during the show, but they become really good friends. An even destroyed criminals together in the future
Great content bro, keep it up!!
Thanks! Will do!
This video is way off on several perspectives
how so?
To answer the question of why Hot D is Better? Better writers and producers by a Long shot, they have learned the Lessons from the Failings of the First show.
I don't think he needs to be insecure about being a bastard - got enough of that with Ramsey
It wasn't even bad people are just crybabies.
Thank you so much for this video!
Thank you for watching!
Ive seen the behind the scenes disks more than the actual movies 😂 Gave me my love for movie production and movies in general, also makes me sad. it's the only production I've ever heard of that filmed its trilogy back to back along with the extensive use of big-atures
I'm pretty sure you're meant to hate the High Sparrow.
5:57 I believe the empire chased the rebels on their way back, I don’t think Tatooine was their stop, they were just attacked there.
What I remember about the rise of the Empire is... is how quiet it was.
amon literally did what his father wanted, turned into the very thing he didnt want to become
What I liked that you brought up about Jon Snow is that Jon has bent the rules a few times for his own personal gain where him at least being tempted would be in his character if presented with both the opportunity and the feeling that him ruling was the best outcome for everyone, especially his family. This could have led to so much more fascinating plot lines than screaming at a dead dragon, saying "I don't want it", and saying "She's my queen" until Tyrion convinces him that killing innocent people is a red flag for a future ruler no matter how hot she is.
Sansa had absolutely no claim to the north beyond throwing a tantrum and saying its hers
Crazy how badly they dropped the ball with Jamie later on
what i thought was so disappointing with the last 3 seasons was the fighting, going from quick and realistic sword and arrow fights. to huge coriograghed dances where five characters are able to slay small armies in some cases... or the dragon fire burns everywhere and everyone, except main characters. i started singing the" go go power rangers" song sometimes
The more time goes on the worse the GOT tragedy becomes
Left a Like for The Kingslayer rewrite! Maybe Ice King grabs his gold right hand on accident, or he has an obsidian prosthetic 🦾
I just rewatched starting at S4. Bran is a fucking afterthought, They did that to Jon to simply "subvert expectations."
I'm one of those who felt that it did ruin the entire series. It's not just because of season 8 though. It started with season 5, already, and it was a crescendo of disappointment, which culminated with Series Finale. Believe it or not, it still hurts today. Only if George would finish the series, the wound will be completely healed. I know, it's ridiculous. lol
I knew the show fell off by season 7 but I still took the day off work for episode 1. I knew it was beyond repair then and didn’t really care about watching the rest
The Winds of Winter is my favorite episode of television. Period.
